  8.               This is the public version of OPTIKS. OPTIKS is a
  9.      system designed along the lines of spread sheet for graphics. It
  10.      is a large paste up board for graphics from various sources. It
  11.      can read graphics files from Apple MacPaint, PC Paintbrush,
  12.      Microsoft Paint and a dozen or so other file formats. It can
  13.      print out on IBM, Epson, HP, OKI, GEMINI, Panasonic and Canon
  14.      printers. It supports CGA, VGA, EGA, Hercules and several other
  15.      screen modes. This version saves in BLOAD formats (7 flavors)
  16.      and a super compressed mode which is unique to OPTIKS and PCRGB.
  17.      This version also supports direct reads from CANON IX-12
  18.      scanners, and other scanners.

  20.               OPTIKS is an evolutionary program. The menu system is
  21.      an outline of all the functions which are available and a few
  22.      that are not. As I write OPTIKS I add new menu items as fast
  23.      as I finish old ones. I will probably never finish OPTIKS, but
  24.      if you are patient I will finish the item that you are waiting
  25.      for me to finally get to.

  27.               I am documenting OPTIKS a little at a time. I feel that
  28.      I should spend most of my time working on the code so that the
  29.      program is easy to use and useful rather than writing tutorials.
  30.      A good tutorial does not help a bad program, hopefully I can
  31.      write a bad tutorial and have a good program.

  33.               WHATS.NEW is a file running down the latest changes. I
  34.      keep old comments in it so you can look back to see if a feature
  35.      has been added and how to use it.

  37.               This is the PUBLIC version. Please pass this program on
  38.      to other BBS's after February 1, 1988. Please do not separate
  39.      any of the items from the ARC.
